After an eventful few days at this year’s California Dental Association Spring Meeting, we are back home unwinding and reflecting on our trip. I thought it would be nice to share some of the details of our experience in California with all of you!
Day 1 – Thursday, May 12:
After setting up our booth Wednesday we were anxious to get started and start discussing some of our latest products with the show’s attendees. Unfortunately, there were not a ton of people walking the aisles, and it seemed like the people who were walking the halls were mainly other exhibitors, rather than potential customers. On the bright side, the weather was so beautiful, without a cloud in the sky and with the perfect light breeze, that we didn’t mind the slow booth traffic too much!
Day 2 – Friday, May 13:
A day destined for “bad luck”; we disregarded any superstitions and arrived at our booth excited and confident that day two would bring a crowd. Luckily, we were right! Traffic picked up quite a bit from the previous day, so much so that there was a large crowd waiting at the doors to get in.
Upon announcing the show was open, attendees rushed through the doors and into the exhibit hall to explore the booths.
Our reps were kept busy the whole day, demonstrating product after product, and we were happy to see the constant activity.
With our recent acquisition of the Identafi® multi-spectral oral cancer screening device, our Sr. Product Manager, Rick Gross, was occupied all day with editorial meetings and videos, as seen below. There was a huge interest in this product, and attendees were enthusiastic to get an up-close look at the device.
Listen below to Rick Gross explain the technology of Identafi!
Day 3 – Saturday, May 14:
Friday was an eventful day at our booth, but Saturday was even better. It was a slightly less-than-perfect day outside weather-wise, and people really seemed to make their way into the exhibit hall. The hall was crowded most of the day, but started to die down around 3pm, which was a blessing for us, since we had to break down the booth quickly and catch our flight!
Something that really stood out to us at this particular meeting was the fundraising program held by the CDA, as seen in the photo below. The CDA Foundation’s mission is to improve the oral health of California residents by helping dental professionals meet the community’s oral health needs. It is certainly a breath of fresh air to see advertisements like these every once in a while, and we are proud of what the CDA Foundation is doing!

Back home on the East Coast, I am missing sunny California, but it is satisfying to know I’ll be returning to another CDA in the fall! Thanks to all our West Coast reps for a great meeting.
Were you able to attend the meeting? If so, what did you think?
